This is the time of year when parents are busy visiting schools and making decisions about which school might be the best one for their children. It's not an easy job... It's also a very busy time of year for schools, which need to do their best to help parents to go through this difficult and sometimes stressful process.
We're aware that this year, we haven't done as well as we could have in providing an informative and helpful experience for parents who are interested in our school. We want to do better in future, so we thought we'd ask the people who are best placed to help us: the parents.
So, whether or not you came to one of our open events this year, we'd really appreciate your advice and opinions on how we can run better open events.
There's a short questionnaire below, but first, we need to explain the particular problems that we need to solve:
- We're still a very small school, with only 260 pupils. This means that we have a small staff team and in the current education climate, time is tight...
- We have a huge number of people who want to come and look at our school. This year we were contacted by the parents of over 400 children who wanted to come to open events. This means that including parents and children, more than 1200 people wanted to look around our school.
- We try and provide a quiet, calm atmosphere for our youngest children, with a minimum of disturbance and visitors so that they can learn and play in peace.
- We only have three classes of secondary-age children so far.
With all of that in mind, we'd really appreciate your experiences and suggestions.
